Client portals for matters, not shared inboxes
“Please find attached” does not scale. FirmRix Legal Practice OS offers a client portal with separate credentials so parties see matter-scoped documents and invoices without accessing lawyer-only tools.
Separate credentials
Clients are not staff. Portal logins never inherit chambers permissions. They see what you share on the matter — documents and invoices — not every hearing note in the firm.
Matter-scoped sharing
Attachments belong on the matter. Portal visibility follows that scope so a family matter client never glimpses an unrelated corporate file sitting in the same chambers.
Privilege and Desk
When chambers sit together on FirmRix Desk, privilege banners remind staff what guests must not see. Portal clients are not Desk guests by default; invitations stay intentional.
Hiring vs running chambers
Clients who need a lawyer find firms on /firms and /marketplace. Running the matter day-to-day is Legal Practice OS. Do not collapse those journeys on one URL.
Questions
- Do clients need FirmRix Desk to see documents?
- No. The portal is for documents and invoices. Desk is live presence when you invite someone to sit on the work.
- Is the portal a full DMS?
- It is matter-scoped sharing for clients, not a replacement for every document-assembly or records-management suite.
- Can accounting clients use the same portal idea?
- Accounting firms use the Practice Management client portal for entities and compliance. Legal portal language is matter-first.
