The operating system for your legal practice.

Matters, parties, court dates and fee billing in one workspace — built for litigators and chambers, not adapted from generic project software.

The problem

Chambers billed poorly because WIP lived in notebooks and hearings lived in personal calendars. Generic project software calls everything a task and cannot show unbilled work by matter.

What's inside

  • Matters & parties

Every matter carries its parties, practice area, documents and history — from Intake through Filed, In Hearing and Awaiting Order to Settled. Parties and case numbers belong on the matter, not buried in a description field.

  • Court calendar

Hearing dates and filing deadlines live on one calendar, with recurring deadlines generated for you. A hearing is not the same object as an internal standup — the calendar knows the difference.

  • Practice areas

Civil litigation, criminal, family, corporate disputes, labour, property, writs and appeals are configured from day one. Add chambers-specific areas without rebuilding the matter model.

  • Unbilled WIP

See exactly what work is done but not yet billed, by matter and by lawyer, before it quietly ages out. Fee notes stop being assembled from memory at month-end.

  • Fee billing & disbursements

Raise fee invoices, record disbursements against matters, and track receivables on your standard terms. Billing understands fees and costs the way chambers actually work.

  • Chambers Brief

A daily brief of hearings, deadlines, actions and financials for the whole chambers, ready before you are. Start the day from one screen instead of five personal calendars.

What it replaces

  • Generic project or kanban tools relabelled as “legal”
  • Spreadsheets for hearings and filing deadlines
  • Fee notes assembled from memory at month-end

Client and guest experience

Clients can use a branded portal for matters, documents and invoices — separate credentials from your lawyers’ workspace.

Product scope

This is practice management for advocates, chambers and law firms. It is not salon or clinic operations, not a courtroom e-filing system, and not a full document-assembly suite. Tax-registration chrome for VAT/FBR is hidden; fee invoices can still carry sales tax.

How it works

  1. Set up chambers

Add lawyers, parties and practice areas. Matter statuses and legal intake forms are seeded for litigation on day one.

  2. Run your matters

File, track hearings, log work, and keep every party and document attached to the matter it belongs to.

  3. Bill your fees

Turn unbilled WIP into fee invoices, record disbursements, and keep receivables moving.

Questions

What is FirmRix Legal Practice OS?
A practice management system for law firms and chambers — matters, parties, court calendar, hearings, documents, fee billing and reporting in one workspace.
How is it different from generic project software?
It speaks legal. Work items are Matters, not tasks. Statuses are Intake, Filed, In Hearing, Awaiting Order, Settled and Closed. The calendar is a court calendar, and billing understands fees and disbursements.
Which practice areas are supported?
Civil litigation, criminal, family, corporate disputes, labour, property, writs, appeals, drafting, hearing appearances, legal notices, opinions and retainerships are configured out of the box, and you can add your own.
Can I track unbilled work?
Yes. Unbilled WIP is a first-class view, so you can see what has been done but not yet invoiced, by matter and by lawyer.
How do I get started?
Create a free account, choose Legal Services as your industry, and your chambers workspace is seeded with matter statuses, practice areas and legal intake forms.
Does it include court e-filing?
No. Legal Practice OS manages matters, hearings, documents, WIP and fee invoices. You still file through the court’s own portal.
Can clients access matter documents?
Yes, through a branded portal with separate credentials. Clients see matter-scoped documents and invoices — not your entire chambers workspace.
Does it replace accounting practice software?
No. Legal Practice OS is for law firms and chambers. Accounting firms use Practice Management System. Both can connect to the FirmRix network for discovery.
What is Chambers Brief?
A daily view of hearings, deadlines, actions and financials for the chambers — so the morning starts from one place instead of scattered calendars.
